Sandhurst Club - North Course

Course Overview

Sandhurst Club is Melbourne's first totally private master-planned club community. Not one, but two new courses at Sandhurst club are sure to enhance the reputation of this golf region. Both of the private championship courses will be a joy to look at and a real challenge to play.

The aim for the Sandhurst North Course is to build upon the indelible characteristics of the old links. The tight lies with the bump-and-run, the jigger to hard running greens, makes a round on the links positively the supreme golfing test. Peter Thomson's philosophy is rooted firmly in the traditional style of the Scottish Isles based on the belief that golf is a game played not in the air, but along the ground.

The South Course will wind its way around the residential precincts of Sandhurst Club, ending up near the Clubhouse where the 9th and 18th holes will be within easy reach of the pro-shop.

Holes on the sandbelt styled Champions Course will feature a small plaque near each tee as a tribute to the relevant skills and attributes of the past champion, after whom each home has been dedicated.

Some of the most notable features of the Champions Course at Sandhurst Club will be the gentle sandbelt style fairway contours, coupled with the open fronts to greens, in contrast to the more "hurdle style" experience of the North Course.
