A corporate or charity golf day wouldn't be the same without a big prize on offer for a hole-in-one. Now you can offer a huge prize (up to one million dollars1) simply by paying a small insurance premium. GOLFSelect's hole-in-one insurance premiums are the best value around and all policies are underwritten by a major international insurer. The cost of insuring a hole can start from as little as AU$250.
A one million dollars or similar value hole-in-one prize is ideal for a charity golf day where a recognised charity will receive the nominated amount and the individual will receive a gift to the maximum value allowed by the GA under the Amateur Status Rules.
Under a recent change to the Amateur Status Rules an individual may now accept a prize value over the allowed amount of $1,200 for a hole in one competition.
This is great news and means you can now offer a great prize for any hole in one competition on course up to $1,000,000.
Our insurance is also such that the premium you pay will apply to each and every hole-in-one on the nominated hole on the day. So if you are lucky enough to have three holes in one on your day then you (or your nominated charity) will benefit three times!
Useful Tips
-
By insuring the easier par 3 holes you significantly increase the chances of an ace and also increase the excitement of participants. On long holes many golfers feel a little intimidated. We find that is preferable to have a $20,000 ace than a $100,000 remote possibility.
-
Why not encourage a local business (e.g. a car dealership) to "sponsor" the hole by paying the insurance premium? It is within the charter of many companies to involve themselves in such projects and the publicity that is generated when a hole-in-one is scored far outweighs the cost. Even as a simple sponsorhip deal it is hard to beat.
-
Our insurers require that a witness acts as an independent observer at the hole in case a player aces the hole. Why not have a photographer act in this role? At the same time you are producing a valued memento of players striving for a valuable prize; if a hole-in-one is scored, your publicity machine is already in place.
NOTES:
1. Please note that in a recent Amateur Status rule change an individual golfer may win a hole in one prize in excess of the $1,200 limit normally associated with amateur golfers. Go to the Golf Australia website to find out more.
