Notts Golf Club is set in the gently rolling hills of North Nottinghamshire and offers one of the finest examples of traditional heathland golf in Great Britain. This Willie Park Jnr designed course celebrated its 100-year anniversary at the start of the century, and since its opening has consistently been rated in the top ten inland courses set within British shores.
Notts is frequently used for major amateur competitions, and has, in the past been the host to two professional tournaments, the John Player Classic, which at the time offered the richest prize ever for the winner Christie O'Connor, and the Haig, won by Nick Faldo. The course is presently used as a British Open qualifier, and Notts Golf Club also has the long term aim of Hollinwell being used for the Walker Cup, probably the most famous amateur golf competition in the world.
