2016 QUEENSTOWN INTERNATIONAL

The 2016 Queenstown International will be played across three days, with two rounds at magnificent Millbrook Resort and one round at Jack's Point, set right at the foot of the Remarkables Mountain Range with armchair view of Lake Wakatipu.

This 3 round tournament promises to offer golfers from all over the world a fantastic week, with a but of competitive edge thrown in for good measure.  Teams will compete for overall prizes for the lowest nett score over the 3 rounds, as well as daily prizes. All prizes will be presented at the closing ceremony and farewell dinner.

YOUR HOSTS

Greg Turner is one of New Zealand's most successful professional golfers, having spent most of his career on the PGA Tour of Australasia and the European Tour. Greg won four tournaments on the European Tour and has represented New Zealand in international competitions many times.  One of his 'international caps' was in the winning International Team in the 1998 Presidents Cup. Since retiring from tournament golf, Turner has set up a golf course design and corporate hospitality business.

Lucas Parsons is a well known golfer throughout Australasia, having won both the Australian and New Zealand Amateur Championships in 1991 before turning professional and joining the PGA Tour of Australasia where he won seven tournaments including the New Zealand Open (1995) and the Greg Norman Holden International (2000). He went on to play for a time on the European Tour where he won two tournaments. Having retired from tournament golf at the end of 2008, Lucas now manages a café in the hip Sydney suburb of Randwick.  Lucas's culinary talents were discovered in 2009 when he was a finalist in the reality television cooking show MasterChef Australia.

Playing Tips

1
Par 5, Length m

Remarkables 1 - The best line off the tee is close to the fairway bunkers, but unless you can reach the green in two the right half of the fairway is just fine.

2
Par 3, Length m

Remarkables 2 - Take enough club to make the green but avoid going past the pin - this green can be really nasty from behind the hole!

3
Par 4, Length m

Remarkables 3 - The left-hand side of the fairway affords the best look at the green but beware those bunkers.

4
Par 4, Length m

Remarkables 4 - As close to the fairway bunkers as you dare - this fairway has a nasty slope from left to right for anything right of centre.

5
Par 5, Length m

Remarkables 5 - If you want to attack this green in two then you must drive accurately. Beware the central bunker, the left-to-right slope will gather the ball into the sand.

6
Par 3, Length m

Remarkables 6 - What you see is what you get. The middle of the green is never a bad option.

7
Par 4, Length m

Remarkables 7 - To go or not to go? If you're going for the green the central bunker lurks. Maybe a lay-up makes more sense.

8
Par 4, Length m

Remarkables 8 - Beware this steeply sloping green. If the pins on the front don?t be long.

9
Par 4, Length m

Remarkables 9 - The best line is up the left half, the simplest up the right. But from the right there's that pesky front bunker.

10
Par 4, Length m

Coronet 1 - A drive up the right opens up the green - but if you want a little more room the left half of the fairway is the spot. Be up with your approach - anything short will probably come back.

11
Par 3, Length m

Coronet 2 - Beware the tier across the middle of the green. If the pins on the left, err short. If it's on the right, there's a little more room right than there at first appears.

12
Par 4, Length m

Coronet 3 - This fairway is quite wide past the bunker, but the left half is much better. If you can't get your second to the green then a lay-up short of the central bunker might be a good option. How brave are you?

13
Par 4, Length m

Coronet 4 - If you can fly the cross bunker then the left half of the fairway is position A. If the pin is towards the back then a little short of the hole might be sensible.

14
Par 4, Length m

Coronet 5 - From the right half of the fairway your approach is slightly longer but the running shot is an option. From the left better to fly your ball all the way.

15
Par 5, Length m

Coronet 6 - Which way is the best way? The pin placement on this hole may dictate where you want your second to be. The island fairway is usually best - and a little larger than it appears. But it is an island...

16
Par 3, Length m

Coronet 7 - Club selection is vital. The rock wall looks daunting but may act as a backstop. Left is to be avoided.

17
Par 4, Length m

Coronet 8 - The pin is the key. Back left or back right and angle is more important than distance from the tee. Unless you think you can drive the green of course...

18
Par 5, Length m

Coronet 9 - How brave dare you be? Once your tee shots away, it's the lay-up that tantalises. Closer is better, but accuracy then becomes paramount. Much more room if you lay back shorter - but then there's the water in front of the green!
