Accommodation
Mission Hills Resort Haikou   (6 nights | Deluxe rooms | Breakfast included)
Haikou is nestled amid lush green gardens with an 18-storey luxurious resort block, a nine-storey resort annex, a three-storey clubhouse, shopping arcades, meeting facilities, and fully-equipped sports and recreation centers. The complex is built with world-class resort, entertainment, mineral springs and spa facilities, establishing itself as one of the most sought-after leisure destinations in China

Golf
Mission Hills Hainan - Stone Quarry | 11:00 AM tee time TBC (18 holes of golf inc shared motorised carts)
As a tribute to the many fine courses of Pete Dye, mentor to the Schmidt-Curley team, this course showcases all the wild-ride features associated with his designs. Railroad tie sleepers, abrupt mounds, and moguls, long sandy waste bunkers, devilish sometimes small greens and rail-road car bridges all create a distinct look. These features are proven all the more dramatic as the course snakes through ancient volcanic quarry's supported by steep rock walls and timbers. The dramatic landscape features remnants of days past including coal cars, railroad tracks, and abandoned mining equipment. The course is rather 'sporty' in nature, demanding shot making over brute strength and provides a welcoming option to many of today's long courses.

Day 3

Golf
Mission Hills Hainan - Lava Fields | 11:00 AM tee time TBC (18 holes of golf inc shared motorised carts)
While similar in many respects to the Tournament Course with its irregular lines of turf and wild bunkering, Lava Fields presents far less tree cover. There is a feel of expanse that creates a big look and the black rock and sand dominate the landscape like no other course in the world. At 7400 yards, it too is capable of hosting significant events.

Day 4
Notes Walk to course
Approx 5-8 min walk
Golf
Mission Hills Hainan - Blackstone | 11:00 AM tee time TBC (18 holes of golf inc shared motorised carts)
The crown jewel is the Blackstone Course, a spectacular 350 acre core golf course that weaves through a striking landscape of mature trees, thick jungle vegetation, and expansive lakes and wetlands. The dominating site characteristic is the bed of lava rock which was capped with material located 25 miles away. The naturally rolling terrain sees dramatic elevation change and great care was taken to find as many natural holes as possible to avoid cutting the rock and to preserve the magnificent Lychee trees.

Golf
Mission Hills Hainan - Sandbelt Trail | 11:00 AM tee time TBC (18 holes of golf inc shared motorised carts)
Sandbelt Trails is patterned after the exceptionally strong courses of the Australian Sandbelt. Courses such as Royal Melbourne, Kingston Heath, and the Metropolitan Club serve as inspiration for a course that features large bunkers dominated by high sand flashes and crisp, thick lips that rise above fairway and green surfaces. While some of these bunkers are formal, surrounded by turf, many transition to native jungle vegetation without a clean edge creating a much more natural landscape. Large greens feature plenty of movement and square tees add to the distinct look. The predominant tree is eucalyptus in keeping with the Australian inspirations. The gently rolling sometimes flattish terrain has been capped with plenty of width to provide vast playing surface and alternative angles of attack from its sweeping fairways. Like the other courses, it sprawls over a huge expanse of land yet features intimate green to tee connections promoting an easily walkable experience.

Golf
Mission Hills Hainan - Shadow Dunes | 11:00 AM tee time TBC (18 holes of golf inc shared motorised carts)
Bringing sand to the city, this course offers a unique environment of towering sand dunes and native vegetation found along the vast beaches of Hainan Island. Not quite a day at the beach, this course features large undulating contours that feed into some of the largest greens at the resort. These wild green surfaces will leave monstrous putts of prodigious length at times. Not a course to be overpowered by length, the player's short game will require pin-point accuracy. Being somewhat short at 6600 yards from the tips and par 70, this course features intimate green to tee connections and will be exceptionally walkable, making for a quick round.

Day 7

Nearby, Shenzhou Beach Club, a one-stop premium water sport.
Day 8
Golf
The Dunes at Shenzhou Peninsula Golf Club - West Course | 11:00 AM tee time TBC (18 holes of golf inc shared motorised carts)
The legendary Tom Weiskopf paid remarkable attention to ensuring that the only traditional seaside golf course in Asia was carefully carved out of the native sand dunes on this natural peninsula on Hainan’s stunning, untouched east coast. Mr Weiskopf created the natural landscape including massive dunes and reintroduced local indigenous plant species to combine with the unparalleled breathtaking views to create what will truly go down in history as one of Asia finest golfing creations. The Dunes – A true masterpiece.

The lava rock base has been incorporated as an integral element of the design by weaving irregular lines of turf and rock, eliminating the typical hard line edge of most courses. Adding to the look are wild, irregular bunker edges and transitional sand edges that effortlessly work into native lava rock. Fairways sweep across the landscape conforming to the natural terrain with an emphasis on surface drainage rather then contained low drain inlets. The result is a magical blanket of turf with soft irregular edges and a lack of hard lines as there is only fairway cut (no rough, even at bunker faces). The lava bed is incorporated into forced carries creating dramatic contrast and the lava rock walls and village ruins created years ago remain as a testament to the site’s past.

The course begins in the more heavily wooded portion of the property with a wide variety of hole lengths and natural amphitheater green settings. The final holes play in and out of a hub of raised terrain that allows spectacular views of the closing holes with little need to move. Easy green to tee relationships and easy terrain render the course very walkable. Difficult, long (at over 7,800 yards) and with risk/reward opportunity at the final holes, this course should prove to be one of the premier tournament courses in the world today. Great effort was made to provide not only a great tournament golf course but extensive planning and construction has created support facilities capable of hosting big events with the greatest of ease.
