** SOLD OUT TOUR **

Experience the best of golf in Scotland and the thrill of two days at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie. Combining golf on the best courses in Scotland (including Ballot tee times on the Old Course at St Andrews) the trip promises to be highly memorable.

The trip commences in the historic region of St Andrews where you will stay for 4 nights (less than 200 metres from the first tee of the Old Course) and experience all that this famous area has to offer. The first 3 days of golf provide a 'wow' factor like no other - St Andrews New Course, St Andrews Old Course (ballot) and the spectacular Kingsbarns.

Apart from the world-class golf the charm of St Andrews cannot be underestimated and you will find yourself immersed in the history of golf over the last 700 years.

From St Andrews we will head north to the charming town of Inverness for 4 nights, with its breathtaking scenery and famous lochs. Golf in the Scottish Highlands is an incredible experience, and you will be dazzled by the links at Nairn, Castle Stuart and the highly regarded and very popular Royal Dornoch.

Following your time in Inverness we head back towards the North Sea to the township of Aberdeen, which will be our base for the final 5 nights. Golf at Trump International, Royal Aberdeen and the magnificent Cruden Bay, as well as spending the Friday and Sunday at the Open Championship at Carnoustie...where the winner will receive the famous Claret Jug.

Carnoustie is widely regarded as one of the toughest courses on The Open Rota.  Most golfers will recall Jean van de Velde's epic loss in the 1999 Open Championship, where he famously took on the 'Barry Burn', capitulating with a triple bogey 7 on the 72nd hole to scrape his way into a play-off, won by Paul Lawrie.  The 2018 Open is sure to provide its fair share of thrills.

This memorable trip finishes with a farewell dinner in Aberdeen where we will recount stories of "what could have been", "what was" and "what will be" and departure is on the morning on July 23, 2018. Of course you may choose to extend your trip beyond this time where we can certainly organise further golf and accommodation arrangements on your behalf.

** Non-Golfing Partners **

At each location we visit during this tour we can certainly provide a good range of sightseeing options for the non-golfing partner. There are a range of walking trails, shopping tours, local cooking classes, Castle tours, Distillery tours and many more attractions to keep non golfers entertained during this fantastic tour.

Trump International Golf Links

Trump International is certainly visually spectacular and a beautiful layout. Currently rated 48 in the world by Golf Magazine, Trump International is a classical Scottish links set on the North Sea coastline between Murcar Links and Cruden Bay.

The central focus of the development is the golf course designed by Dr. Martin Hawtree, the acknowledged master of links golf course architecture.

The championship golf course is a classical Scottish links.  The course has a Par of 72 and a maximum length of just over 6767 meters.  The golf course follows a classical pattern of two out-and-back loops of nine holes.

All 18 holes thread their way engagingly through the dunes, rising to find views of the sea and coastline, plunging into secluded valleys, offering a sequence of superlative topography, landscape, alternating spaciousness and enclosure, panoramic views, a rich texture of vegetation and wildlife habitats surrounding the golf holes.

Each hole has six separate tees catering for all classes of golfer.  The bunkers are placed to challenge the stronger player and not unduly punish the weaker golfer.  All bunkers are turf-revetted in traditional style to combat wind and erosion and sand-blow.  Greens have been sited in natural promontories and valleys and are featured in relation to their setting.

The course is constructed to a high specification and has a design and infrastructure capable of hosting a major competition.

Nairn Golf Club

Nairn Golf Club is set on the Moray Firth coast in the Highlands of Scotland, and boasts sea views from every hole. It is one of Scotland's lesser-known gems.

Nairn Golf Club was founded following a meeting of gentlemen interested in the game of golf in September 1887. Set on the Moray Firth coast in the Highlands of Scotland, Nairn represents traditional Scottish links golf at its very best.

Certainly one of Scotland's finest and most picturesque links courses, the par 72 layout at Nairn comprises over 100 bunkers, guarding subtle greens and gorse lined fairways, which unanimously demand accurate ball striking. The course lies directly on the coast and offers all the natural hazards one would expect, including an abundance of heather, whins and burns.

Always in excellent condition, its greens are renowned as being fast and true. Eighty years ago, having played the Championship Course, James Braid commented on their quality – “The texture of the turf and character of the greens is unrivalled.”

A traditional old Scottish links, it is well bunkered with undulating fairways. It is an excellent balance of holes, strong par 4's, tricky par 3's and two classic par 5's, with the 8th protected by 10 bunkers. The ever changing wind, tight greens and a magnificent finish makes Balgownie a test for the very best.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club's championship course is rated 5th in the world outside the USA. It can be enjoyed by the average player, but also offers repeated and fresh challenge to the expert. Royal Dornoch is located away from any large towns. It has a unique atmosphere and is a haven of peace and tranquillity.

Records show the game was being played in 1616 on the town land on the links along the seashore. It was Old Tom Morris who had the honour of really designing the Championship Course before John Sutherland added the final gloss. Donald Ross also learnt his golf on the links.

Dornoch today continues to honour that philosophy. It asks that golfers create shots, play by feel and instinct, and let go of charts and mechanical thinking.

Given its quality, it is difficult to comprehend why the wonderful links at Carnoustie lay virtually undiscovered for so long and why it took until 1931 for it to host its first British Open. Since then, this great links has hosted the Open on six occasions.

Carnoustie Championship course is now in the finest condition it has ever been. Not only does it offer the ultimate challenge to every golfer but it provides a playing quality second to none.

It will provide you with one of the sternest tests of golf in the world - a relatively flat course, Carnoustie's main defences are from the wind and the two burns that run across the links through out, quietly awaiting the shot that is slightly less than perfect.

Since 2001, Kingsbarns has co-hosted the annual European Tour’s elite Dunhill Links Championship along with the Old Course and Carnoustie. Kingsbarns has become a favourite destination for first-time and returning international and UK golf visitors to St Andrews. This reputation is based on a combination of playability, dramatic seaside location, classic links turf and staff dedicated to personal service.

Designed by Kyle Phillips and Mark Parsinen, every hole on this championship standard course offers inspiring views of the North Sea.

Sir Michael Bonallack, Past Captain and Past Secretary of the R&A said of Kingbarns: "Mere words cannot convey just how extraordinary the place is. It must be seen to be believed. And once seen, it will never be forgotten".

Now over 100 years old, the New Course at St Andrews Links is probably the oldest "new" course in the world. Opened in April 1895, the course was built in response to increasing demand for golf at St Andrews, both from locals and from the visitors who were flocking to the town in increasing numbers on the recently constructed railway.

The result is a classic links course with great skill designed to exploit the natural topography. It's built over flat, open-spaced ground with many undulations and depressions. Sandy soil and coarse grasses dominate the course.

Some say that the reputation of the Old Course has caused the magnificence of the New Course to be one of golf's best-kept secrets. Even though it remains one of the oldest and most storied courses in Fife, it's far easier to land a tee time than its more storied neighbour.

The Old Course at St Andrews is a must for all avid golfers, who should make the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime. This is where it all started – the undoubted Home of Golf.

This traditional links course is the oldest in the world. Its layout is unique and challenging and the sense of history is overwhelming. To tread the turf of St Andrews, where in the 13th century shepherds played a form of golf, is a marvellous experience. The course is known for its 112 bunkers including one of the most famous in golf, the Road Hole bunker at the 17th hole.

A peculiar feature of the layout of the Old Course is the double greens where the outward and inward holes are cut on the same putting surface. These large greens can mean that golfers may be faced with putts of almost 100 yards.
